Mikhail sat in his office, watching his goldfish swim around in the bowl on the elevated round table. It was for the fishbowl only. His little waterbaby had her own place, a place that was just hers. It was something that made Pluto, Mikhail's dog and one of his best friends, rather jealous at times. Pluto had always been a rather jealous pup, and it's gotten even worse as he's gotten older. Especially when Minnie got Figaro, Pluto was sure no one cared about him any longer. But Mik would never hold it against him. He loved Pluto more than almost anyone in the world.
In fact, he was sure there was only one person in the world that he loved more. Minnie. He'd fallen in love with Minerva back when they were attending the academy and had been all the time since then. Yes, it had taken them forever to finally get down the isle, but they had actually been married now for almost three years, and – Three years. Mik stood from his large, leather seat and consulted his compendium. Their anniversary wasn't too far away. He hadn't forgotten about it, but with everything he did daily, the days seemed to run into each other and he hadn't realized what today was.
Turning quickly, he looked over at Pluto. “What do you think, pal?” Pluto's head lifted from where he laid on his lounge, ears perked. “Should I steal away to Sherwood or actually go into Neuschwanstein?” It really depended on whether he wanted to get her something magical or something from the muggle world. That was one word he didn't like. It was about as bad as nigger, and he'd been called that plenty of times in his life. But he didn't like calling non-magic users muggles. It seemed as derogatory to him as nigger, and it just wasn't polite in his head.
Walking over, Mik rubbed the top of his pal's head. “I'll be back later, pal. I think I'll go visit Min in the Hospital Wing.” Pluto let his head lay back down on his chaise so he could go back to sleeping and Mikhail pulled his robe together so he could zip it up as he headed out of the Headmaster's quarters. The hospital wing was around the other side of the castle, but it didn't take long to get there. Of course, he could apparate over there, but the students weren't allowed to apparate, not that most of them knew how to do it yet, but they weren't allowed, so he didn't do it himself with students around.
Entering the Hospital Wing, he saw Min laboring over one of the sick students. He came up behind her and placed a hand on her back softly. “How is he doing today, Min?”

Minnie's mind was all over the place, between the kid who's arm had been broke during Qudditch practice, to her upcoming anniversary that Mickey hadn't once mentioned, to her wondering if there was a chance she could be pregnant. She knew it was a very small off chance, considering her and Mickey always played it safe, because they both agreed they weren't ready for children. But the idea made her want to be ready. She wanted a baby. She just had to figure out a way to tell her husband. And soon. Because she wanted a baby by the end of the year, at least.
Just as Minnie was checking to make sure Stefan's arm was mending in the right places, she heard her husband. A smile crept across her lips and she turned to face him. "He's just fine, the break is nearly mended. Come, let him rest, that potion takes a lot out of someone." She led him over to her office. She opened the door, letting Mickey in first before shutting it.
"I'm sorry I didn't come to bed last night. I was very busy as you can see. So, I just stayed the night here and slept on a cot when I got tired enough. You and Pluto ate dinner, right?" Minnie asked as she stepped up closer to her husband. She had loved the man since she was young, and every year after that got better. She knew she was the luckiest girl in the world to have him, and made sure he knew it everyday just as much. Even in small gestures, like making dinner, or cleaning his clothes, not that she made it much considering most of the students and staff ate together but still. She did her best with small gestures.

Mikhail had eaten last night. He had eaten down in the banquet hall with the students and with Donald. The two of them had gone late into the night talking about Min and Daisy and Mikhail did not get to bed until late as well. He had brought a plate back from the kitchen for Pluto and then fed Bianca as well. She only ate pellets, not actual food, but Mik's pets had to eat as well. He had been late in getting home to feed them, and Min hadn't been around either.
Mik had gotten used to her spending nights in the Hospital Wing. It wasn't something he liked, but he was never going to tell her she shouldn't be dedicated to her job. If anything, Mikhail understood dedication to one's profession. He loved being headmaster, and there were times that his attention was required in the middle of the night. It was something both Mik and Min understood about each other, and whereas neither one of them liked it, they both supported each other.
“We did have dinner, Min,” I assured her, wrapping his arms around her. He let his hands slide softly over her back. “I ate with Donald in the banquet hall and then I took a plate back for my pal.” Mikhail leaned down, letting his lips brush against his wife's forehead. “Never worry.” He smiled, kissig her forehead again. “How about you? Did you remember to eat? Did you get any sleep?” Mik knew that there were nights she would fall asleep exhausted in here on her cot, but he also knew there were nights that she worked straight through.
“What do you say you and I have an early dinner tonight and we each head to bed early?” I wanted to arise early in the morning anyhow. He wanted to head into Sherwood to find Minnie something for their anniversary before classes started. He was scheduled to observe the charms classes tomorrow, something he was looking forward to.

“We did have dinner, Min,” He assured Minnie, as his strong arms wrapped around her. She enjoyed his touch, especially in private like this. It always held of a hint of security for her. And she loved it, especially when his soothing touch made it's way up and down her back, causing her to smile up at him. “I ate with Donald in the banquet hall and then I took a plate back for my pal.” Minnie closed her eyes, enjoying his lips more than his touch. Thankful he had been fed, as had her baby boy, who wasn't really a baby at all, but her baby none the less. “Never worry.” She looked up at him.
"I always worry. You should know this." Minnie said, touching his chest gently with her hand. “How about you? Did you remember to eat? Did you get any sleep?” Minnie nodded gently. "I did. I ate and slept just fine. Promise." She didn't want him to worry anymore than he wanted her to worry. “What do you say you and I have an early dinner tonight and we each head to bed early?” She smiled softly, letting her hand move over his chest as her eyes turned up toward him, the smile strong in her baby blue eyes.
"I say that sounds like the best plan you've ever had.. and maybe before bed we could..." Minnie blushed, her eyes turning away from his. "Do what married couples do in bed.. since we haven't been able to in a long while." Minnie looked back up at him. "And maybe this time we could not use protection." Minnie was sure he'd understand where she was going with that. Because what else reason would she not want to use protection? Outside wanting a baby. And she hoped he understood, so she didn't have to say it out loud.

Minerva looked up into Mikhail's eyes and his heart jumped in his chest. Whenever she touched her, whenever she looked at him, he always felt his heart flutter and his breath quicken. It had always been like this. From the moment he saw her when she entered the academy. He had been in his fourth year and she was just starting her first, but the connection was automatic. They had been insepparable from that moment on. How and why they ever went as long as they did without walking down the isle, he would never know. He was only relieved that she didn't find someone else before they got married. He knew she was in love with him, just as deeply as he was in love with her, but it could have happened... Right? He was relieved to hear her say that she had eaten and gotten some sleep. He knew how dedicated she was to her position, just as dedicated as he was to his, but he knew she did the same things he did... sometimes sleep and eating came far after work. But the look in her eyes wasn't one of weariness. In fact, the had a vigor and a life in them that he hadn't seen for a while. She was always so gunho, all the time on the go. She never seemed to take a break. But Mikhail was like that as well. He hardly ever took a break. For him to have been in his dorm prior to coming in here and then coming here without doing any other work, was completely out of character. But it was a Saturday, and there were no classes on a Saturday. The words that came out of Min's lips, not only made her blush, but it caught Mik unaware. He'd always dreamed of a family with Minnie, even from the time they were attending the academy as students, he had wanted children with her. They had decided they'd wait awhile, but Mik was sure a while had passed and Min was definitely wanting children now. He was sure that it could work. If she were to get pregnant now, she wouldn't be due until the end of the school year. Of course, he'd insist on her taking it easy, although he knew she wouldn't. "Alright," Mik said, nodding his head slowly. "I believe now would be a swell time to stop using protection." Mikhail moved his hand around to rub Min's stomach softly. "Are you ready to reduce your work around here? I don't want you to be overdoing it." Yes, he may have been being a little bit overprotective, but this was his wife and potential child they were talking about. He didn't want Minnie to be overdoing herself and risking the health and safety of the child. "I mean," he retracted, "I wouldn't want you overdoing yourself while you're pregnant. You work so hard and I'm just not sure that all that work is good for baking this bun." He didn't want to seem demanding. Of course, yes, he could put her on medical leave as her employer, but he knew that wouldn't go over so well as her husband.

"Alright," Mik said, maling Minnie's already bright smile even brighter. If that was even possible. She clung more to him, her eyes dancing with happiness. It's all she had wanted for so long. A baby. A mix of her and Mik. The idea made her heart soar and her love for Mikhail grow. "I believe now would be a swell time to stop using protection." Min turned her eyes down toward his hand on her stomach, smiling. She could imagine it big and large, making room for their child. A protection from the outside world, right inside of her, as he and she grew big enough and strong enough to survive. Her eyes pricked with tears, but not the sad kind. No these were of pure happiness. There was nothing more she wanted.
"Are you ready to reduce your work around here? I don't want you to be overdoing it." Minnie raised her left brow, wondering what he meant by that. Why would she have to reduce her work? Women worked all the time while they were pregnant. "I mean, I wouldn't want you overdoing yourself while you're pregnant. You work so hard and I'm just not sure that all that work is good for baking this bun."
Minnie slid her hands up Mik's arms, before coming to his face and settling there. "Mickey, honey, I will be fine. I will know when my body has had enough and I promise I'll settle down and take a break. I won't work near as hard once I'm pregnant. So, if that answers your question, yes." She leaned up and kissed him. "But I will decide when my body's had enough. Not you. No offense." She said, hoping he didn't take that the wrong way.

Mik watched as her hands moved up his arms, over his neck, and stopping on his face, cupping it so he looked directly down at her. He knew she wasn't going to like him telling her to take it easy. He knew how dedicated she was to her job, and he wasn't about to tell her not to do it. He just had to think about his family. He wouldnt' want to have to, but he knew he would tell her to relax if she wasn't. Of course, she was right, she does not her body, even better than he does, so he was going to trust her to do what was best for her body. "Me?" He asked, a soft smile on his lips. "When have you ever known me to be offended?" Mikhail was sure he'd never been offended in his life. He knew people saw things differently and he wasn't about to let things they said offend him. He had his views, but he wasn't going to forcee them on anyone else, and usually when person gets offended is because they feel their views are being diminished, but his views were firm in place, so he never got offended. And Minnie knew that. She knew she wouldn't, but Mik knew that was her way of making sure she didn't hurt his feelings. "I know you'll take care of yourself and our child," he assured her of his assurance in her. "I just hope you won't get upset with me if I get a little overprotective." It was in his nature to be overprotective. He loved her and he never wanted to see her get hurt. But she was very independent. She always had been. But ever since Mik had almost lost her when they had been working at the Ministry, he wasn't about to take any chances with her, and this concerned her and their (as of yet unconceived) child. That didn't matter to him though. He was going to protect her with everything he had, even when she told him she was fine. He was never going to stop.

"Me?" Minnie's smile brightened just a smidge as she stared up at Mickey. "When have you ever known me to be offended?" She tried to think back and she couldn't recall a single time he had ever been offened by anything. Let alone Minnie herself. "I know you'll take care of yourself and our child," She smiled up at Mickey, her heart melting. She really truly loved him. More than anyone. And he always made her feel so special.
"I just hope you won't get upset with me if I get a little overprotective." Minnie smiled. "Of course not, Mik. I'll understand completley." She leaned up, kissing his lips softly. "I need to get back to work and so do you. Remember we're spending time together tonight? Don't miss it, okay?"

Mikhail shook his head, leaning down and kissing her lips again. "I wouldn't miss it for the life of me, Minnie." He held her against his body a little longer before releasing her and taking a step back. Mik loved this woman more than life itself and there was nothing he wouldn't do for her. He couldn't believe that they were thinking about... no, they weren't just thinking about having a baby. They were actually going to have a baby. They were going to start trying tonight, and he couldn't be more excited about it. He'd dreamed about having a family with Min for the longest time. Even back when they had been attending the academy as students, he dreamed about the time when he and Minnie would have a family together, and now they actually were going to start trying to build that family.
"I'll have chef Louis whip up something special for us tonight. You can just take it easy for tonight." Mik had read somewhere that it was best for a woman to be relaxed when she conceived, so he wanted to make her as unstressed and relaxed as possible. Running his fingers through her hair, he smiled at her. "I'll see you later tonight." Kissing her forehead, he left the hospital wing and went off toward Donald's class to sit in for the rest of the class hour.
